Traditionally consumed food and spices are significant sources in the daily life diet constitute a large portion of cuisine Eastern Anatolia Turkey. However, limited data available necessitate further analysis their chemical composition health attributing properties. This study aims to present phytochemical biological activities Sium sisarum var. lancifolium, commonly spice species region. Analytical studies date have revealed presence high levels phenolics (chlorogenic acid isoquercetin) volatiles (α-terpinene, camphene, cyclohexene, carene p-cymene), which exhibits potential digestive enzyme suppressive antioxidant abilities. Data collected this suggest use plant obtain nutraceuticals and/or biotherapeutic agents that able regulate oxidative stress activities.
